Haunted Fish Cannery
As a child I remember sometimes the old man, my dad, that is would speak about supernatural phenomena and hauntings. I recall one story he told about an old fish cannery that was apparently haunted. Recollection tells me this apparently haunted fish cannery was located in an area called Point Roberts in the US just about near the border of the British Columbia coast. The old man stated he had wandered on a beach and came upon an old abandoned cannery. He went inside and said he seen all these big heavy tables inside the building. When he went to leave after exploring the old building he went to exit and was startled to have noticed that one of the tables had mysteriously moved blocking his way from the exit. This sounded kind of spooky to me hearing this as a child but at the same time my logic told me there was a possible explanation for this seemingly weird happening. I believe that he may have entered the building from one of the entryways and when he went to leave he didn't realize that he had taken a different doorway than the one he came through in the first place. This would make it seem like that one or more of the tables had been moved. He simply temporarily lost his sense of direction because the building was probably quite large with several doorways. But then again maybe there was something more supernatural about it. Indeed, an internet search did turn up about a fish cannery that existed in the pre and early 1900s in the Point Roberts coastal area. Images showed very long and large buildings adjacent to one another resting along the shoreline of the ocean. Old photos did show cannery workers laboring away at large heavy tables that would require a few men to move. So, yes it is possible one could get disoriented or suffer from an optical illusion being inside one of these old buildings because of their layout and sizes. Then again, almost anything is possible and the old man may have encountered something from the beyond.
