Adopt A Black Cat
Do you like cats? Want to adopt a cat or kitten. Choose a black cat. You may have very well saved a precious life if you consider adopting a black cat or kitten. Cats come in many different patterns and colors coats. It's true that many people will often choose a cat or kitten with lighter colored fur. This had also rang true for myself in the past. I always found my eye drawn to a fluffy cat with beautiful light colored markings or a light shade of a solid color. Black cats were normally the last choice on my list until I read many stories on the net about the many black cats that do not find homes. It was so sad. Many dark colored or black cats and kittens usually do not make it out of animal shelters. Many are simply euthanised because of the color of their fur. Black cats are usually the last to find forever homes. Black cats have been typically a symbol of evil in the ancient days. This I find appalling. It is morally wrong to treat the human race of different color differently. Why would one want to treat one of God's furry creatures in such a cruel fashion. After much information and searching my houselhold decided we would adopt a black cat.
Abraham or Abe came to live with us at the tender age of 2 months. He is a shorthaired crossbreed kitten with dark blackish brown chocolate colored fur with yellow eyes. He is growing rapidly and loves to eat his wet cat food. We also feed him dry kitten food. He enjoys playing with his ball, paper rolls, and anything he can sink his teeth or claws into. Yes, Abe's claws are sharp. We do not believe in declawing. Abe is also an indoor cat. Indoor cats live much longer than outdoor cats because they are not as prone to outside diseases and accidental deaths. Abe has run of the house except the kitchen table is a no no. Abe is very affectionate but can also act like a minature wildcat on the loose. He will run sideways and then pounce up and down sideways. It's so cute how he plays and runs. He looks just like a lightining bolt darting across the floor at a super speed. When I'm busy in the kitchen Abe will be right there under my feet watching me. He has learned very fast what the kitchen is all about, food. Abe also loves to lay on my shoulder purring away. Our cat simply brings us a lot of joy, happiness and fun.
